All the things! I graduated from Macalester College in May of 2016 and am now living in Minneapolis. At Macalester I competed as a track and field athlete, specializing in the 400m dash and sprint relays. For the past six months I’ve been working retail at Whole Foods Market and Lululemon Athletica.
What did you love the most about being a competitive athlete?
In retrospect, the best part of being a competitive athlete was being able to train and compete as a team. As far as teams go, track and field teams have such a diverse range of folks that you inevitably encounter some really great people. As strange as it sounds, I loved going to practice more than actually competing.
What do you do when you’re not in the gym?
I’ll admit, I have weird hobbies. I love to knit and flex my creative crafty muscles. I am an avid reader and love binge watching television shows and movies. My bike is one of my most prized possessions, and I try to bike as much as possible. I also really love cooking/eating food.
What are you hoping to do in the future?
I am currently dipping my toes in many different jobs and career fields in the hopes that I will find something I really love. At this point, I am hoping to be involved in fitness training of some kind, living in the mountains, and biking/hiking/being outside. If that doesn’t work out, I’d settle for working in a library.
